Krasnoyarsk is an administrative centre of a huge region which stretches for 4000 kilometres from north to south along the \”waist\” of the mighty body of Russia. Stretched out along the Yenisey banks – one of the biggest rivers of the former USSR – the Krasnoyarsk region occupies the territory of 2400000 square kilometres. This territory could easily house 10 Great Britains or 4,5 Frances. Krasnoyarsk itself situated on the Yenisey river could be called a southern city according to Siberian standarts. Climate here is not as severe as in Taimir or Evenkiya. During the summer the temperature very often rises to +30C, but in the winter it drops to -30C.
