From 2010 to 2019, the number of people staying in accommodation in Russia grew steadily.
However, in 2020, travel restrictions and quarantine measures due to the coronavirus pandemic led to a sharp drop in arrivals.
After overcoming the coronavirus, the number of visitors to the country has been steadily increasing since 2020 and reached a record high in 2023, up 15 per cent year-on-year.

The number of accommodation establishments such as hotels and motels in Russia has been increasing since 2020.
In 2021, 82% of the room supply in the accommodation market came from five hotels:
Radisson Hotel Group, AccorHotels, InterContinental Hotel Group, Marriott International, and Hilton Wildwood.
Among them, Radisson Hotel Group also ranked first among hotel groups with a quarter of the room supply.

In Russia in 2022, there were significantly more leisure hotel guests than business hotel guests.
Many of the hotel guests said they were on holiday or on a family trip.
Both Russian and foreign guests came for short-term trips of between one and four nights.
Location was an important criterion when choosing a hotel, with more than half of guests saying it should be close to tourist attractions, city centres, the sea, etc.
